Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Plant Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical) is responsible for overseeing and assisting in the routine and preventive maintenance of all mechanical equipment within the plant. The role involves supervising technicians, ensuring minimal downtime, and supporting continuous improvement in equipment reliability and plant efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision & Coordination:

    • Supervise daily maintenance activities and allocate work to mechanical maintenance technicians.

    • Monitor task execution for quality and safety compliance.

  2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:

    • Ensure the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment.

    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.

  3. Troubleshooting & Repairs:

    • Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues and breakdowns.

    • Ensure timely repairs and resolution to minimize plant downtime.

  4. Spare Parts & Inventory Management:

    • Monitor spare parts inventory and raise requisitions to ensure availability.

    • Coordinate with stores and procurement for parts and tools.

  5. Health, Safety & Compliance:

    • Enforce strict adherence to safety standards and plant maintenance protocols.

    • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.

  6. Documentation & Reporting:

    • Prepare and submit maintenance reports, including downtime analysis and equipment history.

    • Support audits by maintaining proper documentation.

  7. Team Development:

    • Guide and train junior technicians in mechanical maintenance procedures and best practices.

    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and skill development.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Equipment Uptime: Maximize mechanical equipment availability through efficient maintenance practices.

  • Preventive Maintenance Compliance: Achieve high adherence to PM schedules to avoid breakdowns.

  • Safety: Zero incidents in maintenance-related tasks; promote a safe working environment.

  • Cost Efficiency: Reduce maintenance costs through effective resource and inventory management.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in maintenance practices and equipment performance.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 2–4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing or process plant.

  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is preferred.


Skills Required:

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals.

  • Team leadership and time management.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.
