We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Piping Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and optimization of shipboard piping systems. The role demands advanced technical expertise, project leadership, and the ability to ensure seamless integration of piping with other marine systems while maintaining compliance with classification society standards and safety regulations.
Advanced Piping System Design & Optimization: Lead the detailed design and layout of complex shipboard piping systems including process, utility, and hydraulic piping, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Shipboard Systems Integration: Oversee the integration of piping systems with mechanical, structural, electrical, and control systems onboard vessels to guarantee operational harmony.
Technical Leadership & Review: Provide technical oversight by reviewing and approving piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
Material & Equipment Specification: Define and approve specifications for piping materials, valves, fittings, and related equipment, ensuring compliance with marine standards and project requirements.
Pipe Stress Analysis & Engineering Validation: Lead and validate pipe stress and flexibility analyses, ensuring system integrity under operational and environmental loads.
Installation, Commissioning & Troubleshooting: Supervise and support fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities, providing expert troubleshooting and solutions during all project phases.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all piping designs and activities conform to marine classification society rules (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, etc.) and applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Project & Team Leadership: Manage multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal departments to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive process improvements, implement best practices, and adopt new technologies to enhance system performance and engineering efficiency.
Lead piping system design and integration for complex shipboard projects.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for integrated vessel system solutions.
Review and approve detailed technical drawings, analyses, and specifications.
Conduct and oversee pipe stress analyses and design validations.
Manage procurement specifications and quality control for piping materials and equipment.
Supervise installation, commissioning, and resolve engineering issues onsite.
Ensure adherence to marine industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams.
Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and project presentations for stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
8+ years of experience in marine piping system engineering and shipboard integration.
Expert knowledge of piping design, fluid mechanics, pipe stress analysis, and marine standards.
Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, PDMS, SmartPlant) and pipe stress analysis software.
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Experience working with marine classification societies and regulatory bodies.
Willingness to travel or work offshore as needed.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex marine projects.
Knowledge of marine environmental compliance and safety management systems.
Proven ability to innovate and implement engineering improvements.
