Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mid-Level Piping Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of shipboard piping systems. The role focuses on ensuring the effective integration of piping with other marine systems, optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective piping solutions for marine vessels.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Piping System Design & Optimization: Lead the detailed design and layout of shipboard piping systems including process, hydraulic, and utility piping.

  • Shipboard Integration: Ensure seamless integration of piping systems with mechanical, electrical, and structural components onboard vessels.

  • Technical Review & Documentation: Prepare, review, and approve piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.

  • Material & Component Specification: Select appropriate piping materials and components ensuring compliance with marine standards and project requirements.

  • Pipe Stress Analysis & Validation: Conduct and review pipe stress analysis to ensure system integrity under operational conditions.

  • Installation & Commissioning Support: Oversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities, including site supervision as necessary.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and activities comply with relevant marine classification societies and international safety regulations.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to meet project timelines and quality standards.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in piping system design, integration processes, and engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead shipboard piping system design and integration projects.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and electrical teams for coordinated shipboard system integration.

  • Develop and review detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Perform pipe stress analysis and resolve design issues.

  • Support procurement and quality control of piping materials and equipment.

  • Monitor installation and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Maintain knowledge of marine industry standards, classification rules, and best practices.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 3-6 years of experience in marine piping system design and integration.

  • Strong knowledge of piping design principles, fluid mechanics, and pipe stress analysis.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, SmartPlant) and pipe stress analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with marine classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Willingness to travel to shipyards or offshore sites as required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with 3D piping design software and model coordination tools.

  • Knowledge of marine regulatory frameworks and environmental compliance.

  • Professional Engineering license or certification in piping design.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
