Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated Junior Piping Systems Engineer to support the design and integration of piping systems aboard marine vessels. The role focuses on assisting in the development, installation, and testing of shipboard piping systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant integration with other marine systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow their expertise in marine piping engineering within a dynamic team environment.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Shipboard Piping Design & Layout: Assist in creating detailed piping designs and layouts that integrate effectively with mechanical, structural, and electrical systems onboard.

  • System Integration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure piping systems are well coordinated with valves, pumps, HVAC, and other onboard equipment.

  • Documentation & Drawings: Prepare and review piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, and schematics under guidance.

  • Material & Component Selection: Support selection of piping materials and components compliant with marine standards and project specs.

  • Installation & Commissioning Support: Assist in on-site installation supervision and commissioning activities to ensure correct implementation.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure piping designs and activities meet marine classification society rules and safety regulations.

  • Technical Learning & Development: Continuously build expertise in marine piping systems, shipboard integration challenges, and relevant engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and layout of shipboard piping systems, including process, hydraulic, and utility piping.

  • Support the integration of piping systems with valves, pumps, and other mechanical equipment onboard vessels.

  • Prepare and review piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, and schematics under supervision.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure piping systems interface correctly with structural, electrical, and mechanical components.

  • Participate in pipe stress analysis and support technical evaluations.

  • Help in selecting materials and components compliant with marine standards and project specifications.

  • Support fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities, including site visits when necessary.

  • Assist in preparing documentation such as datasheets, inspection reports, and maintenance manuals.

  • Ensure compliance with marine industry regulations, classification society rules, and safety standards.

  • Learn and apply best practices in marine piping system design and integration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.

  • 0-2 years of experience or internships related to piping systems design or marine engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of piping design principles, fluid flow, and pressure systems.

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, or similar).

  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical expertise in marine piping systems.

  • Understanding of marine standards and regulations is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally or visit shipyards as required.

Preferred:

  • Internship or project experience related to shipboard piping or marine systems.

  • Basic knowledge of pipe stress analysis tools and software.

  • Familiarity with marine classification societies and regulatory requirements.
