The Piping Fabrication Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of piping fabrication for power plant projects, including high-pressure piping, steam lines, auxiliary systems, and balance-of-plant (BOP) piping. This role ensures that fabrication activities meet project schedules, quality standards, welding codes, and safety requirements. The manager leads workshop and site-based teams, coordinates with engineering and QA/QC, and supports installation interfaces to ensure successful delivery of fabricated spools and assemblies.
Lead the planning and execution of piping spool fabrication, skids, and assemblies.
Ensure fabrication is carried out in accordance with isometrics, spool drawings, and welding procedures.
Review and interpret P&IDs, MTOs, and fabrication isos to validate readiness and resource requirements.
Schedule fabrication activities to align with construction and shutdown needs.
Monitor productivity KPIs (e.g., inches/day, spools/week, weld repair rates) and optimize shop layout.
Ensure timely release of spools for hydrotesting, painting, and dispatch to site.
Oversee welding operations per approved WPSs and ASME Section IX/API codes.
Work closely with QA/QC to ensure dimensional checks, NDT, and documentation are completed.
Maintain traceability and control of piping materials (pipes, fittings, flanges, welding consumables).
Lead a team of supervisors, welders, fitters, helpers, and riggers.
Conduct technical assessments and coordinate welder qualifications.
Implement continuous training to enhance workmanship and compliance.
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE in fabrication areas.
Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses, and ensure permit-to-work compliance.
Investigate incidents and drive a proactive safety culture.
Interface with procurement, engineering, and construction to resolve fabrication challenges.
Maintain records for material issue, fabrication progress, weld logs, and inspection results.
Ensure proper marking, tagging, and storage of fabricated spools prior to release.
