The Junior Pipefitter installs, maintains, and repairs piping systems and related mechanical components in water treatment and distribution facilities. Under close supervision, this role ensures that pipework for pumps, filters, valves, and chemical feed systems is fabricated, assembled, and maintained to deliver reliable water treatment performance and regulatory compliance.
Piping Installation & Assembly
Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipe (carbon steel, stainless, PVC, HDPE) per P&IDs and isometric drawings.
Install flanges, fittings, valves, and supports for suction/discharge piping on pumps, filters, clarifiers, and chemical feed skids.
Routine Inspection & Maintenance
Inspect joints, welds, and connections for leaks; perform minor repairs, gasket replacements, and torque adjustments.
Assist in flushing, bleeding, and pressure-testing loops following maintenance or new installation.
Shutdown & Turnaround Support
Participate in scheduled plant outages to dismantle, replace, and reassemble critical piping sections.
Coordinate with operations and safety teams to follow LOTO, purge, and confined-space protocols.
Fabrication & Modification
Under guidance, measure and fabricate spools, jumpers, and bypass lines in the shop or field.
Modify existing pipe runs to accommodate equipment upgrades or layout changes.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all EHS procedures—lockout/tagout, permit-to-work, hot-work permits, and confined-space entry.
Wear appropriate PPE and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
Documentation & Communication
Record work performed, material used, and test results in CMMS or logbooks.
Communicate status, delays, and handover notes clearly to lead fitter or supervisor.
Accurate Pipe Layout, Cutting & Assembly per Drawings
Leak Detection, Repair & Pressure Testing of Treatment Piping
Support for Shutdowns, Turnarounds & Bypass Installations
Fabrication of Spools, Jumpers & Temporary Lines
Safe Execution of Hot Work & Confined-Space Tasks
