We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pipefitter – Sanitary Tubing to lead the installation, inspection, and maintenance of high-purity piping systems in industries such as pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and biotechnology. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of sanitary standards, welding techniques, and system design, and will be responsible for supervising teams, ensuring compliance, and delivering projects with precision and quality.
Lead the planning, layout, and installation of sanitary piping systems using stainless steel tubing, primarily 304/316L.
Interpret and oversee implementation of P&IDs, isometric drawings, blueprints, and installation schematics.
Supervise and perform TIG and orbital welding, ensuring high-purity welds meet industry hygiene standards.
Ensure compliance with sanitary design codes including ASME BPE, 3A Sanitary Standards, GMP, and FDA regulations.
Conduct and document pressure tests, boroscope inspections, weld logs, and quality assurance checks.
Manage material take-offs, verify inventory, and coordinate logistics of piping components, valves, and fittings.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level pipefitters, apprentices, and subcontractors.
Coordinate with project engineers, QA/QC personnel, and clients to meet project milestones and specifications.
Implement and enforce workplace safety, cleanliness, and sanitation protocols, particularly in cleanroom environments.
Troubleshoot system issues, suggest redesigns when needed, and ensure proper documentation of changes or deviations.
High-Purity Piping Leadership: Oversight of sanitary piping projects, ensuring hygienic integrity and operational efficiency.
Orbital & TIG Welding Expertise: Leading welding operations with a strong focus on weld quality and cleanliness.
Regulatory & Industry Compliance: Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks including ASME BPE, 3A, cGMP, and cleanroom practices.
Project Execution & Team Management: Coordinating manpower, schedules, and installation procedures to meet project timelines and standards.
Quality Control & Documentation: Leading QA/QC efforts, including detailed record-keeping of weld logs, material certifications, and validation documents.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serving as a key technical liaison among engineering, procurement, QA/QC, and field teams.
Technical diploma or trade certification in pipefitting, mechanical systems, or welding required.
6–10 years of experience in sanitary pipefitting, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
Certified in orbital welding or TIG welding preferred.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and P&IDs.
Experience working in FDA-regulated or cleanroom environments (pharma, biotech, or food-grade facilities).
Proficient in documenting work through weld maps, turnover packages, and quality checklists.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification is an advantage.
