The Senior Panel Wiring Technician is responsible for leading panel assembly and wiring activities, ensuring panels are built as per design specifications and industry standards. This role involves supervising junior technicians, coordinating with engineering and QA/QC teams, and supporting functional testing and troubleshooting of control, PLC/DCS, and marshalling panels.
Lead the wiring, routing, and connection of control panels, MCCs, PLC/DCS cabinets, and field junction boxes.
Ensure correct termination, wire tagging, cable dressing, and panel layout as per approved drawings.
Handle wiring of analog/digital I/Os, control relays, safety interlocks, and power distribution circuits.
Interpret and verify electrical wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and layout plans.
Apply redlines and field modifications to reflect as-built conditions and resolve mismatches in design.
Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical queries and drawing inconsistencies.
Supervise and mentor junior wiring technicians and helpers, assigning tasks and checking quality.
Ensure adherence to best practices in wiring, termination, labeling, and panel testing.
Provide on-the-job training on wiring techniques, safety protocols, and troubleshooting.
Perform and lead continuity, insulation resistance (IR), functional, and loop testing of panels.
Diagnose and fix wiring errors, incorrect terminations, and control circuit issues during pre-commissioning.
Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and site pre-commissioning tasks.
Ensure compliance with project standards, client specifications, and relevant electrical codes (IEC/NEC/IS).
Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, documentation, and approvals.
Maintain high standards in workmanship, documentation, and safety compliance.
Expert in panel wiring for PLCs, DCS, VFDs, MCCs, and field instruments.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control signals (4-20mA, RTD, digital, HART).
Skilled in use of electrical tools, multimeters, insulation testers, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to read and modify technical drawings and ensure compliance with standards.
Leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.
ITI / Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in panel wiring and assembly
Background in oil & gas, process automation, manufacturing, or EPC projects preferred
