The Mid-Level Panel Wiring Technician is responsible for independently wiring, assembling, and testing electrical and instrumentation panels, including PLC/DCS panels, junction boxes, and marshalling cabinets. The technician will also assist in guiding junior technicians and ensuring that panels are built according to approved drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.
Execute internal and external wiring of control panels and field enclosures based on electrical schematics and hook-up diagrams.
Ensure correct routing, dressing, and termination of wires using industry best practices.
Install and wire components such as relays, contactors, terminal blocks, PLC modules, MCBs, and signal isolators.
Accurately read and interpret wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, layout drawings, and cable schedules.
Perform minor modifications or mark-ups on wiring drawings as per site changes or engineering instructions.
Verify BOM (Bill of Materials) for panel components; ensure proper tagging and labelling.
Handle various cable types (control, signal, power) and termination types (ring, fork, ferrule).
Conduct continuity checks, insulation resistance tests (IR), and functional tests of completed panels.
Troubleshoot and resolve wiring issues or mismatches based on test results.
Support QA/QC teams during inspections and FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests).
Provide guidance to junior technicians and helpers during panel assembly and wiring.
Coordinate with the design, QA/QC, and procurement teams for clarification and updates.
Follow all electrical safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards (IEC, NEC, etc.), and workmanship quality.
Proficient in industrial panel wiring, cable termination, and drawing interpretation.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools (crimpers, multimeters, wire cutters, etc.).
Familiar with instrumentation signals (4-20mA, RTD, thermocouple) and control circuits.
Ability to troubleshoot wiring issues efficiently and safely.
Strong attention to detail, quality, and adherence to deadlines.
ITI / Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
2–5 years of hands-on experience in panel wiring for industrial or automation applications
Experience with PLC, DCS, or SCADA panel wiring is preferred
