Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Panel Wiring Technician assists in the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical and instrumentation panels, including control panels, junction boxes, and marshalling cabinets. The role involves following wiring diagrams, adhering to quality standards, and supporting senior technicians in panel manufacturing and site installation tasks.


Key Focus Areas & Responsibilities:

1. Panel Wiring & Assembly

  • Perform basic internal and external wiring of control panels, field junction boxes, and PLC cabinets as per drawings.

  • Strip wires, crimp terminals, and connect components such as relays, MCBs, terminal blocks, and contactors.

  • Use appropriate tools for cutting, bending, and routing wires neatly and safely.

2. Drawing Interpretation

  • Understand and follow wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and GA (General Arrangement) layouts.

  • Mark-up and update changes on wiring diagrams under supervision, if required.

3. Component Identification & Handling

  • Identify electrical/instrumentation components (e.g., terminal blocks, fuses, relays, cable glands).

  • Support component preparation, tagging, and labelling before and after wiring.

4. Testing Support

  • Assist in continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and functional testing under supervision.

  • Help identify wiring faults or errors and carry out rework as instructed.

5. Workshop & Safety Practices

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in the panel assembly area.

  • Follow electrical safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.

  • Support in packing panels for dispatch and help with site wiring jobs when required.


Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, cable types, and panel components.

  • Ability to read and understand simple wiring diagrams and layouts.

  • Skilled in using hand tools (wire stripper, crimping tool, screwdriver, multimeter).

  • Good teamwork, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with 5S and workplace safety is an advantage.


Qualifications:

  • ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related trade

  • 0–2 years of experience in panel wiring or related field (freshers with training welcome)

  • Exposure to industrial panel building, electrical workshop, or automation wiring preferred
