The Senior Outage Supervisor โ Mechanical Work is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of mechanical maintenance during major planned and forced outages in a power generation or large industrial facility. This role involves strategic planning, field leadership, contractor and resource management, safety assurance, and overall execution quality. The position demands high-level coordination skills, deep mechanical expertise, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
Outage Planning & Strategy
Lead mechanical scope definition, work-pack development, resource planning, and scheduling.
Coordinate pre-outage inspections and risk assessments to support scope finalization.
Field Execution Leadership
Supervise and direct all mechanical work on critical systems (e.g., turbines, boilers, HRSGs, BOP).
Monitor progress, enforce safety and quality standards, and ensure adherence to approved timelines.
Contractor & Workforce Management
Manage multiple contractor teams, ensuring resource optimization and performance alignment.
Conduct contractor evaluation, briefing, and task allocation based on skills and scope.
Safety & Compliance Oversight
Lead and enforce compliance with all safety policies, including LOTO, confined space entry, and hazard mitigation.
Serve as first response for incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Technical Guidance & Issue Resolution
Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting expertise.
Make real-time decisions in collaboration with operations and engineering teams.
Reporting & Documentation
Deliver daily and end-of-outage reports, KPIs, and deviation logs.
Document lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the primary liaison between maintenance, operations, engineering, QA/QC, and OEMs during outage execution.
Facilitate regular progress meetings and stakeholder updates.

๐ Change & Scope Management: Manage scope changes efficiently, ensuring timely approvals and documentation.
๐ Performance Reporting & Analysis: Provide high-quality progress tracking and post-outage evaluation.
Education: Bachelorโs Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 8 years in power plant/mechanical maintenance, with 5+ years in outage execution leadership
Certifications (Preferred):
NEBOSH/OSHA Safety Certification
Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.)
Proficiency in CMMS (SAP, Maximo), MS Project, or Primavera
Strong leadership and team management in high-stress environments
Advanced knowledge of rotating and static mechanical systems
Proficiency in outage planning tools and methodologies
Excellent communication, analytical, and conflict resolution skills
Strong focus on continuous improvement and best practices in outage management
Field-based role with extended work hours during outages
Physically demanding; includes high-temperature, high-noise areas
Must be available for shift rotation, night work, and emergency outages
