The Junior NVH Engineer supports the analysis, testing, and development of vehicle systems to meet noise, vibration, and harshness targets. This entry-level role assists senior engineers with data collection, test setup, basic analysis, and reporting. The position is ideal for candidates passionate about vehicle refinement and system-level integration, looking to develop foundational skills in NVH engineering.
Assist in the setup and execution of NVH testing on components, systems, and full vehicles (acoustic, structural, and road noise).
Support data acquisition using microphones, accelerometers, and data loggers.
Conduct basic post-processing and analysis of noise and vibration data under supervision.
Help identify sources of NVH issues using basic techniques such as spectrum analysis, order tracking, and transfer path analysis (TPA).
Document test procedures, conditions, results, and recommendations.
Participate in vehicle evaluations and contribute to subjective assessments under guidance.
Interface with design and CAE teams to support refinement of NVH-sensitive components.
Test Setup and Data Acquisition
(Instrumentation with accelerometers, microphones, and shakers)
Basic Data Analysis and Interpretation
(FFT, order analysis, sound pressure level evaluations)
Support for Chassis/Body/Powertrain NVH Investigations
(Assisting in identifying and mitigating structure-borne and airborne noise)
Documentation and Reporting
(Maintaining clear logs, summaries, and test records)
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
(Design, CAE, validation, and prototype teams)
Learning and Application of NVH Tools
(Exposure to software such as LMS Test.Lab, Brüel & Kjær, or HEAD Acoustics)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Acoustical, or Aerospace Engineering.
0–2 years of relevant internship or academic project experience in NVH or vehicle testing.
Familiarity with basic NVH concepts and testing equipment.
Interest in automotive systems, sound quality, and vibration control.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Exposure to NVH simulation or CAE (e.g., NASTRAN, OptiStruct, HyperMesh).
Experience with test tools (LMS, BK Connect, DEWESoft, etc.).
Strong analytical mindset with hands-on curiosity.
