NDT Technician – Welds, Castings, and Machined Valve Parts

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior NDT Technician with expert-level skills in inspecting welds, castings, and machined valve components. This role requires advanced proficiency in multiple NDT methods (PT, MT, UT, RT) and strong leadership capabilities to oversee inspection activities, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with stringent aerospace, oil & gas, or industrial standards. The senior technician will play a critical role in maintaining product integrity and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform complex NDT inspections on welded assemblies, cast parts, and precision machined valve components using multiple NDT methods including PT, MT, UT, and RT.

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to plan and execute inspections.

  • Develop and optimize NDT procedures and testing protocols to enhance detection capabilities and efficiency.

  • Mentor, train, and supervise junior and mid-level NDT technicians to build team expertise and maintain high-quality inspection standards.

  • Analyze and evaluate inspection results, identifying critical defects and recommending acceptance or rejection per applicable codes and standards.

  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to address inspection findings and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Maintain thorough and compliant documentation of inspection reports, calibration records, and traceability data.

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including radiation safety for radiographic testing, and maintain NDT equipment.

  • Participate in internal and external audits, assist in customer visits, and support certification and regulatory compliance efforts.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Expert NDT Execution: Mastery of multiple NDT methods applied to complex valve parts including welds and castings.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and supervision to ensure consistent, high-quality inspection results.

  • Process Development: Lead improvements in inspection techniques, procedures, and equipment utilization.

  • Defect Analysis: Skilled evaluation of discontinuities and risk assessment in line with ASME, API, ASTM, and customer standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with ASNT, ISO 9712, and industry-specific standards, including documentation and reporting rigor.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to support manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in NDT, mechanical inspection, or related field preferred.

  • ASNT Level III certification in at least one NDT method (PT, MT, UT, RT) or equivalent ISO 9712 Level 3 certification.

  • 7+ years of hands-on NDT experience in welds, castings, and machined components, preferably in valve manufacturing, aerospace, or oil & gas sectors.

  • Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and supervising NDT teams.

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME Section V, ASTM, API, etc.).

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
