We are seeking an experienced Senior NDT Technician to lead and execute advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) for blade crack detection on turbine components. The role involves planning, performing, and validating inspections using Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), and supporting Ultrasonic Testing (UT) where applicable. The technician will also mentor junior staff, ensure compliance with industry and customer standards, and contribute to continuous improvement in inspection practices.
Independently plan and perform complex NDT inspections (PT, MT, ET) for crack detection on turbine blades and other high-value rotating parts.
Interpret and evaluate indications to determine component acceptability per customer specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.
Prepare, execute, and review NDT reports, maintain traceability of inspection records, and ensure conformance to AS9100 or equivalent quality systems.
Support ultrasonic and advanced inspection methods, as needed, for subsurface defect detection.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot NDT equipment and ensure all tools meet certification and safety requirements.
Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions in case of non-conformances.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior and mid-level NDT technicians.
Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer quality standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., NAS 410, ASTM, ASNT).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering to enhance inspection strategies and support production flow.
Expert Blade Crack Detection
Perform high-accuracy inspections on turbine blades to identify and classify surface and near-surface cracks using PT, MT, and ET.
Advanced NDT Methodology
Support complex and advanced inspection tasks, including difficult-to-access geometries or specialized materials.
Interpretation and Disposition of Results
Make pass/fail decisions on inspected components with clear documentation and justification.
Process Improvement and Standards Compliance
Lead efforts to enhance inspection efficiency and rigor, ensuring compliance with NAS 410, ASTM, ASME, or customer-specific standards.
Mentorship and Technical Leadership
Train junior staff, ensure knowledge transfer, and act as a technical point of contact for inspection-related matters.
Diploma, associate degree, or certification in NDT, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
Minimum 6–10 years of experience in NDT, with strong emphasis on turbine or aerospace component inspection.
Certified Level II or Level III (ASNT/NAS 410) in PT and MT; ET or UT certification is a strong asset.
Deep knowledge of defect types in turbine blades (fatigue cracks, thermal fatigue, surface porosity, etc.).
Proven ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
Proficiency in using CMMs, digital inspection systems, and documentation tools.
Strong analytical and communication skills; attention to detail and high accountability.
Able to work under pressure in high-volume production or maintenance environments.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to NDT operations.
Experience working in aerospace, power generation, or industrial gas turbine industries.
Familiarity with digital radiography or automated inspection systems.
Background in Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
Demonstrated leadership in inspection process audits, customer visits, or regulatory compliance reviews.
