We are seeking a highly experienced and certified Senior NDT/NDE Specialist to lead, perform, and interpret non-destructive examinations using RT, UT, MPI, and DPI on critical welds and fabricated components. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of applicable codes, strong leadership abilities, and a track record of ensuring compliance and quality in high-standard fabrication environments.
Lead and conduct NDT inspections (RT, UT, MPI, DPI) across critical fabrication and welding operations.
Interpret test results with a high level of accuracy and ensure conformity with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
Prepare, review, and approve NDT reports, inspection records, and defect logs.
Supervise and guide junior and mid-level NDT personnel; review their work and ensure proper documentation.
Coordinate NDT activities across production, welding, QA/QC, and third-party agencies.
Liaise with clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies for inspection schedules, approvals, and compliance reporting.
Conduct internal audits, participate in third-party or customer audits, and implement corrective actions where needed.
Oversee calibration, maintenance, and safe operation of NDT equipment, especially RT safety compliance.
Provide technical support for root cause analysis (RCA) and failure investigations.
Contribute to continuous improvement in inspection methods, procedures, and quality systems.
Advanced NDT Competency: Proficient in interpreting complex indications, defect evaluations, and critical weld inspections.
Code Compliance Leadership: Expert-level understanding of ASME Section V, AWS D1.1, ISO 9712, API 1104, or other relevant standards.
Inspection Planning: Develop and review inspection test plans (ITPs), NDT procedures, and acceptance criteria.
Team Supervision: Manage and mentor Level I and Level II NDT technicians, ensuring adherence to procedures and quality.
Client Interface: Confidently interact with customers and third-party inspectors to present inspection outcomes and clarifications.
Safety Oversight: Lead radiographic safety programs, radiation area compliance, and PPE usage for all NDT activities.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Ensure inspections align with project timelines, welding schedules, and QA milestones.
Defect Analysis: Perform detailed assessment of weld discontinuities and advise on corrective welding measures.
Continuous Improvement: Introduce best practices, emerging NDT technologies, and process optimization in the inspection lifecycle.
Risk & Quality Management: Support quality and risk mitigation plans through robust inspection practices.
Educational Background:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering.
Certifications:
Valid NDT Level II or preferably Level III (or Level II with senior-level experience) in at least three of the following:
RT – Radiographic Testing
UT – Ultrasonic Testing
MPI – Magnetic Particle Inspection
DPI – Dye Penetrant Inspection
Certifications must comply with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, PCN, or equivalent.
Radiation Safety Certification (e.g., BARC / IRRSP / RSO) is highly preferred for RT professionals.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years in NDT roles within fabrication, structural steel, piping, pressure vessel, or industrial equipment sectors.
Proven expertise in weld inspection, fabrication QA/QC, and interpretation of NDT results for client-facing reports.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of weld processes (SMAW, GTAW, SAW, etc.), symbols, and discontinuities.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Ability to work in site, workshop, or remote field locations under challenging conditions.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage and train NDT teams.
Competent in Microsoft Office, digital NDT tools, and inspection documentation systems.
