We are looking for an experienced and certified Mid-Level NDT/NDE Specialist to independently perform and interpret non-destructive testing (RT, UT, MPI, DPI) on welded joints and fabricated components. This role requires a strong understanding of NDT techniques, applicable standards, and the ability to identify defects and ensure compliance with fabrication quality requirements.
Perform NDT inspections (RT, UT, MPI, DPI) on welds and fabricated components in accordance with approved procedures.
Interpret and evaluate test results to determine acceptability of materials and welds based on applicable codes and client specifications.
Review and understand welding drawings, WPS/PQRs, and inspection plans.
Document inspection findings accurately and prepare NDT reports and records.
Coordinate with QA/QC, welding, and fabrication teams to ensure timely inspections.
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot NDT equipment and tools.
Assist in root cause analysis and reporting of non-conformities or weld defects.
Provide technical guidance to junior NDT personnel and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Participate in internal/external audits and client inspections when required.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, API).
Independent Testing: Capable of independently performing and interpreting RT, UT, MPI, and DPI techniques on various weld types and fabrication components.
Code Compliance: Proficient in applying ASME Section V, AWS D1.1, ISO 9712, or equivalent standards.
Weld Quality Assurance: Strong understanding of weld discontinuities, acceptance criteria, and fabrication processes.
Reporting & Documentation: Preparation of detailed and accurate inspection reports, including defect mapping, radiographic interpretations, and UT data.
Safety & Radiation Compliance: Thorough understanding of radiation safety (for RT), PPE, and workplace safety practices.
Collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with production, quality, and third-party inspectors.
Mentorship: Guide and support junior NDT inspectors, providing training and oversight when necessary.
Problem-Solving: Participate in investigations for weld defects, material issues, and propose corrective/preventive actions.
Multimethod Proficiency: Comfortable using multiple NDT techniques as required by project and material conditions.
Educational Background:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or relevant engineering discipline.
Certifications:
Valid NDT Level II certifications in at least three of the following methods:
RT (Radiographic Testing)
UT (Ultrasonic Testing)
MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection)
DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection)
Certifications must comply with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, or equivalent recognized standard.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant NDT experience in fabrication, welding inspection, or industrial quality assurance.
Hands-on experience with pressure vessels, structural steel, piping, or industrial equipment fabrication is preferred.
Other Skills:
Good verbal and written communication.
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and welding symbols.
Familiarity with digital reporting tools and inspection management systems.
Physically fit for on-site work and able to work shifts or travel when needed.
