We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Junior NDT/NDE Specialist to support the inspection and testing of welded joints and fabricated components using RT (Radiographic Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing), MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection), and DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection) techniques. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational NDT certifications and a strong desire to develop within a fabrication or heavy engineering environment.
Perform or assist with NDT methods (RT, UT, MPI, DPI) under supervision as per project requirements.
Conduct visual inspections on welds and fabricated parts before and after NDT.
Support in interpreting fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and inspection requirements.
Record inspection results accurately and submit detailed test reports to QA/QC supervisors.
Follow approved inspection procedures and applicable codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, etc.).
Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment and report any malfunctions.
Identify and report defects, discontinuities, or irregularities in welds and materials.
Ensure adherence to safety procedures, especially in handling radiographic equipment.
Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and quality teams to ensure inspection readiness.
Participate in internal training and skill development programs toward Level II qualification.
Basic NDT Techniques: Working knowledge of RT, UT, MPI, DPI, and visual weld inspection.
Welding Knowledge: Understanding of welding processes, joints, symbols, and common defects.
Documentation: Preparation of reports, calibration records, and defect logs with accuracy.
Standards Compliance: Familiarity with ASME Section V, AWS D1.1, ISO 9712, or equivalent standards.
Safety & PPE: Strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and safe NDT practices.
Team Support: Work effectively under the guidance of Level II/III inspectors and engineers.
Learning Orientation: Open to training, feedback, and certification progress.
Attention to Detail: Sharp observation skills to detect and record flaws and non-conformities.
Equipment Care: Proper use, maintenance, and cleaning of NDT instruments.
Field Exposure: Willingness to work in shop floor, field, or site environments as required.
Educational Background:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or relevant engineering discipline.
Certifications:
NDT Level I or Level II in at least two of the following methods:
RT (Radiographic Testing)
UT (Ultrasonic Testing)
MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection)
DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection)
Certifications should be in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A / ISO 9712 or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
Basic understanding of welding standards and inspection codes.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Physically fit for on-site inspection work.
Willingness to travel and work in shifts or field locations, if required.
