The Junior Mechanical Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of food processing equipment including mixers, slicers, conveyors, ovens, and packaging machines. Working under close supervision, this role assists in troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently within food safety standards.
Assist with preventive maintenance activities such as lubrication, inspection, and adjustment of mechanical components on food processing equipment.
Replace worn parts like belts, bearings, seals, and gaskets under guidance.
Help clean and maintain equipment in compliance with food safety (GMP/HACCP) standards.
Perform basic mechanical repairs on equipment under supervision.
Report equipment malfunctions promptly and assist senior technicians during breakdowns.
Learn to interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and maintenance procedures.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and adhere to safety protocols during maintenance.
Support sanitation and food safety procedures to maintain hygienic work environments.
Participate in safety training and maintain awareness of regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and parts used in CMMS.
Communicate maintenance status and equipment issues to supervisors and team members.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Adhering to food safety and workplace safety standards
Learning mechanical systems and maintenance best practices
Assisting in minimizing equipment downtime
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical training or vocational coursework in mechanical maintenance, industrial mechanics, or related field preferred
0–2 years of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in food processing or manufacturing environments
Exposure to mechanical repair, machine maintenance, or internship/co-op experience is a plus
Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment
Willingness to learn equipment operation and mechanical troubleshooting
Understanding of food safety and GMP principles is an advantage
Strong willingness to learn and take direction
Good communication and teamwork skills
