Job Title: Senior Mechanical Supply Chain Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Mechanical Supply Chain Engineer to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations for mechanical components. In this senior-level role, you will take ownership of the entire supply chain process, from strategic sourcing and supplier management to inventory control and process optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, manage complex supply chain challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the seamless integration of materials and components into the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Supply Chain Management: Lead and manage the end-to-end supply chain for mechanical components, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and cost management across all stages of procurement, inventory, and distribution.
- Supplier Management & Negotiation: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring high performance in terms of quality, delivery, and cost. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve optimal cost-efficiency and supply chain resilience.
- Inventory Optimization: Oversee inventory management strategies, including demand forecasting, material planning, and just-in-time inventory principles, ensuring optimal stock levels to support manufacturing needs while minimizing excess inventory.
- Process Improvement & Innovation: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supply chain operations, reduce lead times, and drive cost-saving opportunities. Explore and implement new technologies, automation, and advanced methodologies (e.g., Industry 4.0) to optimize processes.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders in manufacturing, engineering, and product development to ensure the integration of supply chain processes with overall business objectives. Collaborate to resolve complex issues related to material procurement, quality, and production timelines.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and regulatory compliance. Ensure all activities meet industry standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), supply chain performance data, and trends to identify areas for improvement. Present actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership to drive decision-making.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide junior supply chain engineers, providing leadership, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the supply chain team.
- Budget Management: Manage the supply chain budget, overseeing capital expenditures, cost control, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations. Develop strategies for reducing costs while maintaining high levels of service and quality.

- Supplier & Vendor Relations: Ensure strong and effective relationships with key suppliers, managing performance and negotiating favorable terms that contribute to long-term supply chain success.
- Inventory & Demand Planning: Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring alignment with production schedules and minimizing material shortages or overstocking.
- Process Optimization & Automation: Lead efforts to optimize supply chain processes, incorporating advanced technologies (e.g., automation, robotics, AI) to drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize supply chain disruptions, ensuring the continuity of operations and regulatory compliance.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work with senior leadership teams across departments to align supply chain goals with product development, manufacturing, and overall business objectives.
- Performance Analytics & Reporting: Utilize data analysis and KPIs to monitor and improve supply chain performance, presenting insights to senior management to drive strategic decisions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in supply chain management or mechanical engineering with significant expertise in managing complex supply chain operations.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, supply chain management, procurement, and manufacturing processes. Proficient in ERP systems, data analysis tools, and inventory management software.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and mentoring cross-functional teams, managing senior-level projects, and driving collaboration across departments.
- Process Improvement Expertise: Deep understanding and experience in applying lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize supply chain operations.
- Negotiation & Vendor Management: Strong skills in supplier negotiation, contract management, and performance monitoring.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities with experience using data to make informed decisions that enhance supply chain performance and reduce costs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Black Belt).
- APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
