Job Title: Mechanical Supply Chain Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Fresher Mechanical Supply Chain Engineer to join our dynamic supply chain team. As a fresher in this role, you will assist in managing and optimizing the flow of mechanical components, raw materials, and finished products from suppliers to production lines and ultimately to customers. This position offers a great opportunity to apply your mechanical engineering knowledge while learning how supply chain management works in the manufacturing industry. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, manufacturing, and logistics, to ensure smooth and efficient operations while ensuring that products meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Support:
- Assist in the management of the supply chain for mechanical components and materials, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of mechanical parts, materials, and subassemblies for production.
- Help coordinate the movement of materials from suppliers to manufacturing facilities, ensuring proper handling and storage.
Inventory and Material Management:
- Support the monitoring and management of inventory levels to ensure optimal stock is maintained for production without causing delays or excess.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking material usage to forecast future material needs.
- Work with the warehouse and production teams to ensure proper inventory management and organization of materials.
Supplier Coordination and Communication:
- Assist in communicating with suppliers and vendors to address any issues related to material deliveries, quality, and production schedules.
- Help coordinate and ensure the quality and specifications of materials meet the required standards before they are sent to production lines.
- Work with procurement teams to ensure purchase orders are created and processed in a timely manner, keeping suppliers informed of delivery expectations.
Logistics and Transportation:
- Assist with managing the logistics and transportation of mechanical materials, ensuring timely delivery to the manufacturing facility.
- Help coordinate shipments and track delivery status, ensuring that products arrive on time and in good condition.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to resolve any shipping or transportation issues that may arise.
Process Improvement:
- Participate in identifying areas for improvement in the supply chain processes, including material handling, logistics, and inventory management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing efficiency, reducing lead times, and minimizing costs.
- Learn and contribute to the application of Lean and Six Sigma principles in supply chain operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of supplier information, material receipts, and inventory data.
- Help track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as supplier lead times, on-time delivery rates, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure that all supply chain-related documentation is properly maintained and accessible for audits or reviews.
Learning and Development:
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship opportunities to develop your knowledge of supply chain processes, procurement, and logistics.
- Continuously improve your understanding of the interaction between mechanical engineering and supply chain management.
- Work closely with senior engineers and supply chain professionals to learn best practices and industry standards.
Key Focus Areas:
Vehicle Dynamics:
- Assist in analyzing and optimizing vehicle handling, stability, and ride comfort through simulation and testing.
Powertrain Systems:
- Contribute to the design and testing of powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.
Structural Engineering:
- Design and test vehicle structures for safety, performance, and durability under various conditions.
Electronics & Electrical Systems:
- Support the integration of electronic systems, including vehicle control, infotainment, and electrical power distribution.
Thermal Systems:
- Assist in the development of thermal management systems, focusing on engine cooling and HVAC systems.
Manufacturing & Assembly:
- Participate in optimizing manufacturing processes and assembly techniques to improve efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Recent graduates or individuals with limited professional experience (up to 1 year) are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes such as procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation, data analysis, and reporting.
- Familiarity with supply chain management software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus but not required.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail to handle supply chain tasks effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
