Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Supervisor – Valve is responsible for leading all mechanical maintenance, testing, repair, and inspection activities for industrial valves. This includes high-pressure safety valves, control valves, isolation valves, and actuated systems. The role involves managing teams, ensuring compliance with international standards, and coordinating complex shutdown or turnaround operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the repair, servicing, testing, and calibration of a wide range of valves (gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check, control, safety relief).

  • Supervise workshop and field maintenance teams, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards (API, ASME, ISO).

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute valve maintenance during shutdowns, turnarounds, and scheduled outages.

  • Troubleshoot complex valve issues and recommend technical solutions or modifications.

  • Oversee hydrostatic, pneumatic, and functional testing using certified test benches and instruments.

  • Ensure correct interpretation and use of P&IDs, valve datasheets, maintenance manuals, and technical drawings.

  • Liaise with engineering, procurement, and QA/QC teams for work scopes, spare parts, and inspection requirements.

  • Prepare detailed service reports, failure analysis documentation, and compliance records.

  • Train and mentor mid-level supervisors and technicians, ensuring workforce competency.

  • Monitor team performance and enforce strict HSE compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.

  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience in valve maintenance, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory role.

  • Deep knowledge of valve types, actuators (electric/pneumatic/hydraulic), and repair methodologies.

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and technical reporting.

  • Experience working with major OEMs or valve service contractors is a strong plus.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification in valve inspection/testing or knowledge of API standards (API 598, API 6D, API 527, etc.).

  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.

  • Experience in executing large-scale shutdowns, brownfield upgrades, or offshore maintenance scopes.
