Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Supervisor – Turbine is responsible for leading all aspects of turbine maintenance, overhaul, and performance optimization activities. This role involves managing teams of technicians, coordinating shutdowns and outages, executing major inspections and repairs, and ensuring compliance with OEM standards and safety regulations. The position plays a key leadership role in maintaining turbine reliability, efficiency, and availability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead all turbine-related maintenance and overhaul operations (steam/gas turbines and auxiliaries).

  • Plan and execute major outages, including inspections, rotor lifts, alignments, and casing clearances.

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical failures and provide technical direction on corrective actions.

  • Ensure maintenance tasks are carried out in accordance with OEM procedures, safety regulations (OSHA, LOTO), and internal protocols.

  • Coordinate with engineering, QA/QC, procurement, and external contractors for successful project delivery.

  • Oversee servicing of turbine auxiliary systems, including lube oil systems, hydraulic systems, sealing systems, and turning gear.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, OEM manuals, and alignment charts.

  • Maintain documentation for inspections, test results, maintenance logs, and deviation reports.

  • Lead, mentor, and assess performance of mid- and junior-level technicians.

  • Participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis), audits, and continuous improvement programs.

  • Ensure spare parts planning, tool calibration, and readiness for emergency interventions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience in turbine maintenance, including 3–5 years in a senior supervisory capacity.

  • Extensive knowledge of gas and steam turbines from major OEMs (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Alstom, Ansaldo, etc.).

  • Expertise in precision alignment, balancing, bearing inspection, and vibration monitoring.

  • Strong leadership in executing critical turbine outages and managing high-risk maintenance tasks.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification in turbine maintenance or reliability engineering is a strong advantage.

  • Experienced in power plants, combined-cycle operations, or offshore turbine installations.

  • Familiarity with CMMS, SAP, or turbine performance monitoring systems.

  • Excellent leadership, risk assessment, and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
