Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Supervisor – Fabrication is responsible for leading and overseeing all workshop and on-site fabrication activities involving structural steel, piping, vessels, skids, and heavy equipment components. This role ensures that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The role includes team management, planning, inspection coordination, and production optimization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all fabrication activities, including cutting, welding, fitting, assembling, and finishing.

  • Plan and allocate daily tasks to fabrication teams and ensure manpower is optimized.

  • Review and interpret complex fabrication drawings, welding procedures (WPS), and material specifications.

  • Monitor quality of welds, fit-ups, and final assemblies in accordance with codes (ASME, API, AWS).

  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for stage inspections, NDT, hydrotests, and client approvals.

  • Ensure adherence to HSE procedures, risk assessments, and toolbox talks on a daily basis.

  • Resolve technical issues on the shop floor and provide solutions to minimize delays and rework.

  • Lead fabrication efforts during plant shutdowns, modular construction, or heavy-lift preparations.

  • Maintain production records, progress reports, manpower logs, and material consumption data.

  • Mentor junior supervisors, fitters, and welders to uphold technical competence and productivity.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication Technology, or a related field.

  • 8–12 years of experience in fabrication supervision, with at least 3–5 years in a senior role.

  • Expertise in fabrication of structural steel, pressure parts, heavy piping, and skid-mounted systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication codes and standards: ASME Sec VIII, API 650/1104, AWS D1.1, etc.

  • Skilled in reading isometric drawings, P&IDs, and welding maps.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification in Welding Inspection (CSWIP, AWS-CWI) or similar is a strong advantage.

  • Experienced in EPC environments, oil & gas shutdowns, or modular yard operations.

  • Strong leadership, time management, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Familiarity with fabrication tracking software, CMMS, or ERP systems.
