We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor – Valve Section to oversee day-to-day valve maintenance operations in a power plant or industrial utility setting. The ideal candidate will have solid mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with valve servicing, and demonstrated ability to lead a team. This role involves managing preventive and corrective maintenance of all types of industrial valves, ensuring high equipment reliability, and maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Supervise the inspection, repair, testing, and calibration of industrial valves (isolation, control, relief, and pressure-regulating).
Plan and coordinate maintenance work during shutdowns, overhauls, or scheduled services.
Ensure proper execution of valve lapping, re-seating, stem replacement, actuator servicing, and leak testing.
Lead a team of valve technicians and fitters; assign tasks and monitor progress.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and troubleshooting support to junior staff.
Coordinate with operations and other maintenance departments to schedule and prioritize jobs.
Interpret P&IDs, valve data sheets, and OEM manuals for maintenance planning and execution.
Diagnose valve failures, performance degradation, or leakages, and recommend corrective actions.
Work closely with engineers to execute modifications or retrofits on aging or critical valve systems.
Ensure strict adherence to safety practices including LOTO, confined space entry, hot work permits, and proper lifting procedures.
Conduct toolbox talks, JSAs (Job Safety Analyses), and contribute to safety audits and corrective actions.
Promote a safety-first culture among the maintenance team.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, valve history, test certificates, and failure reports.
Update CMMS with job completion data, spares used, and downtime reports.
Monitor critical spare inventory levels and raise material requisitions as needed.
Supervise valve maintenance tasks and team performance
Ensure maintenance quality, documentation, and safety compliance
Provide technical troubleshooting and diagnostics
Coordinate with planning and operations for job execution
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Power Plant Maintenance Technology
Experience:
4–7 years of valve or mechanical maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Experience in thermal power plants, process plants, or utility services
Technical Skills:
Good knowledge of valve types (gate, globe, ball, butterfly, PRVs, control valves) and actuators (manual, pneumatic, electric)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, and maintenance procedures
Familiar with applicable standards: ASME, API, ISA, and safety codes
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills
Problem-solving mindset and ability to lead under pressure
Proficient in using maintenance software or CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.)
