The Mechanical Supervisor – Steam Systems (Mid-Level) is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, maintenance planning, and safe operation of industrial steam and condensate systems, including boilers, turbines, steam piping, and pressure-retaining components. This role ensures system reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient mechanical performance through hands-on supervision of maintenance teams and contractors, preventive maintenance execution, and troubleshooting support.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of steam generation and distribution equipment, including boilers, pumps, valves, steam traps, and heat exchangers.
Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for steam systems in accordance with operational priorities and safety protocols.
Supervise a team of technicians and ensure adherence to ASME, NBIC, and OSHA standards for pressurized equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues within the steam system and guide root cause analysis for equipment failures or performance deviations.
Monitor system performance and suggest improvements to enhance energy efficiency, system reliability, and longevity of components.
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance records, inspection logs, and repair reports in alignment with compliance standards.
Support commissioning, shutdowns, and overhauls of steam-related systems, coordinating with operations, safety, and engineering teams.
Interface with vendors, OEMs, and contractors for specialized services, equipment sourcing, and technical support.
Train and mentor junior staff and technicians on steam system maintenance, safety protocols, and equipment handling procedures.
Participate in audits, regulatory inspections, and contribute to the development of mechanical integrity programs.
System Reliability & Uptime
Maintain continuous and safe operation of steam generation and delivery systems with minimal downtime.
Maintenance Planning & Supervision
Lead the mechanical team in executing scheduled and emergency maintenance with clear prioritization and quality control.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
Enforce compliance with safety codes and mechanical standards (ASME BPVC, NBIC) related to high-pressure steam systems.
Efficiency & Process Optimization
Identify and implement mechanical improvements for better steam utilization and reduced energy loss.
Team Leadership & Technical Guidance
Provide supervision, coaching, and knowledge transfer to junior technicians and operators on best maintenance practices.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field.
5–8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance with a focus on steam systems, boilers, or utility infrastructure.
Solid knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, NBIC, and local steam safety regulations.
Demonstrated experience supervising mechanical teams in industrial environments.
Proficient in reading piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometrics, and OEM manuals.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) for planning and tracking maintenance activities.
Strong leadership, communication, and safety management skills.
