Job Title: Mechanical Service Technician

Job Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical Service Technician to lead and oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems and equipment. In this senior-level role, you will work independently and provide mentorship to junior and mid-level technicians while managing more intricate technical issues and larger projects. You will play a key role in optimizing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of equipment across the organization while ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Maintenance & Repairs: Lead the maintenance and repair of complex mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and addressing more challenging mechanical issues that require expert-level skills and experience.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical problems, using advanced troubleshooting techniques and tools to ensure minimal downtime and maximum system performance.
  • Project Leadership & Oversight: Lead or coordinate larger-scale maintenance or installation projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to company standards. Provide direction and technical expertise to junior and mid-level technicians.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Optimization: Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies for high-priority equipment and systems, ensuring proactive measures are taken to prevent issues before they arise and optimizing equipment performance.
  • Team Mentorship & Training: Provide mentorship and training to junior and mid-level technicians, sharing expertise, best practices, and problem-solving approaches. Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical development within the team.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, production, and management teams to solve complex mechanical issues, improve system efficiency, and ensure alignment with operational goals. Provide technical support for new product launches, upgrades, or system modifications.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Track performance metrics and maintain clear reports on technical issues, solutions, and outcomes for senior management.
  • Safety & Compliance Leadership: Ensure all maintenance and service activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards. Promote and enforce safety practices within the team and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation: Identify opportunities for process improvements in maintenance, repair, and equipment management. Lead initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in mechanical services.
  • Tool & Equipment Management: Ensure the team has access to the necessary tools and equipment to perform tasks effectively, maintaining equipment in good working condition and ordering replacements or upgrades as needed.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Advanced Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Lead the diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical systems, applying advanced technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to minimize downtime and enhance performance.
  • Project Management & Leadership: Oversee and manage large-scale maintenance or installation projects, providing leadership and ensuring successful completion within scope and budget.
  • Team Development & Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor to junior and mid-level technicians, sharing knowledge and providing guidance for professional growth.
  • Preventive Maintenance & System Optimization: Implement and refine preventive maintenance programs to increase system reliability and optimize performance across the organization.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance, maintaining a safe and effective work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Requirements: Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical service, maintenance, or repair, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Expertise in mechanical systems, advanced diagnostic tools, and troubleshooting techniques. Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, and electrical systems is a plus.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and train teams of technicians. Experience in providing technical guidance and overseeing projects.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to diagnose and solve complex mechanical issues independently. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to report technical information to management and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in all aspects of mechanical service and repair, ensuring precision and quality in every task.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, work in physically demanding environments, and adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

  • Certification in Mechanical or Industrial Maintenance (e.g., PMMI, MT2 or MT3).
  • OSHA safety certification or equivalent.
  • Advanced certifications in specific mechanical systems (e.g., PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
