Job Title: Mechanical Process Engineer

Job Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and implementation of mechanical processes within our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for driving process innovation, solving complex mechanical issues, and overseeing the continuous improvement of production systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and lead projects that enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness. This is a key position for someone with a strong background in mechanical process engineering who is looking to take on significant responsibility and contribute to the strategic goals of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Leadership & Innovation: Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical manufacturing processes. Drive the adoption of new technologies, systems, and methodologies to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Strategic Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement across all aspects of production. Lead large-scale continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing techniques to reduce waste, enhance throughput, and improve product quality.
  • Troubleshooting & Complex Problem Solving: Tackle complex mechanical process issues, including equipment malfunctions, inefficiencies, and production bottlenecks. Lead root cause analysis efforts and develop corrective actions to ensure minimal production downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Leadership: Work with production, quality, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless integration of process improvements. Lead cross-functional projects, ensuring that all process modifications align with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Data Analysis & Decision Making: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making, process design, and optimization efforts.
  • Process Testing & Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of new process designs and modifications, ensuring they meet operational, safety, and performance standards. Drive the successful implementation of new processes within the production environment.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers. Lead by example, promoting a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all processes are thoroughly documented, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and safety protocols. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Cost Management & Budgeting: Take ownership of the budget for process improvement projects. Manage resource allocation, track project expenses, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Communicate project progress, process performance, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Provide detailed reports on process performance, challenges, and future opportunities.

  • Process Optimization & Innovation: Lead the identification and implementation of innovative process improvements that drive efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure high-quality production.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure process improvements align with organizational goals and contribute to overall success.
  • Complex Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Lead the resolution of complex mechanical and process-related challenges, ensuring that issues are addressed effectively and promptly.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their growth and creating a high-performing engineering team.
  • Cost Efficiency & Resource Management: Ensure that process improvements are cost-effective and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in mechanical process engineering, with a strong background in manufacturing process optimization, mechanical system design, and troubleshooting. At least 3-5 years in a senior-level or leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and process optimization techniques. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), engineering analysis tools, and process simulation software.
  • Continuous Improvement Expertise: Strong experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence and process innovation.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven experience managing complex projects, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful completion of process improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and drive results.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex engineering challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation for process improvement projects.

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.
  • CAD software certification (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • FEA or process simulation software certification.
