We are looking for a skilled and reliable Mechanical Maintenance Technician with mid-level experience to perform routine and corrective maintenance on shipboard mechanical systems. The role includes troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing marine equipment to ensure vessel operational readiness and regulatory compliance. This position requires a solid understanding of marine systems such as propulsion, cooling, fuel, steering, and auxiliary machinery.
Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on shipboard mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot issues in systems including propulsion units, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, steering gear, and HVAC.
Read and interpret mechanical schematics, manuals, and service documentation.
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble components to OEM or classification standards.
Maintain logs, service records, and follow checklists for inspections and repairs.
Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and operational standards as per IMO, SOLAS, and class society guidelines.
Assist in overhauls, dry-docking maintenance, and condition monitoring tasks.
Work collaboratively with electrical and marine engineering teams onboard or ashore.
Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements or replacements when necessary.
Mentor junior technicians and assist with on-the-job training when required.
System Reliability: Ensure operational availability of essential shipboard systems through proactive maintenance.
Technical Troubleshooting: Independently identify and resolve moderate to complex mechanical issues.
Marine Compliance: Perform maintenance in alignment with class regulations and marine safety standards.
Efficiency & Documentation: Complete tasks efficiently and maintain accurate records using logs or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Team Coordination: Work closely with marine engineers, supervisors, and vessel crews to support mission readiness.
Diploma or ITI in Mechanical / Marine Engineering or related technical discipline.
3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience, preferably in marine or industrial environments.
Strong working knowledge of shipboard machinery and maintenance procedures.
Proficient with mechanical tools, instruments, and alignment/measurement techniques.
Ability to work safely in confined spaces, engine rooms, and onboard conditions.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Experience with dry-docking, overhauls, or marine refits.
Familiarity with marine maintenance standards (IMO, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL).
CMMS system knowledge (e.g., AMOS, MESPAS, or similar).
STCW or other marine safety certifications.
