The Junior Mechanical Maintenance Technician supports routine mechanical maintenance and repair tasks for HVAC systems within water treatment plants. This entry-level role assists in ensuring heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment operates efficiently to maintain proper plant environmental conditions. The technician works under close supervision while gaining hands-on experience and technical skills.
Assist in preventive maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting HVAC equipment components including motors, fans, belts, and filters.
Support troubleshooting and repair of basic mechanical issues under the guidance of senior technicians.
Monitor HVAC system indicators and report irregularities or failures.
Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain clean and safe work areas in mechanical and HVAC equipment rooms.
Record maintenance activities and report status to supervisors.
Participate in training sessions to develop HVAC mechanical skills and knowledge of plant environmental systems.
Collaborate with other maintenance team members during routine and emergency repairs.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Basic HVAC or mechanical trade training preferred but not mandatory
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or HVAC preferred
