Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Manager to oversee the mechanical maintenance operations at our facility. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing the overall maintenance strategy, ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery, and leading a team of maintenance technicians. You will develop preventive maintenance schedules, lead troubleshooting efforts, and ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety and quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in mechanical maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead, manage, and mentor the mechanical maintenance team, providing technical guidance, training, and performance reviews.
    • Develop and implement maintenance strategies that align with the company’s production goals and ensure the efficiency of mechanical systems.
    • Assign daily tasks to maintenance personnel, ensuring that each technician is properly equipped and motivated to perform their job effectively.
  2. Maintenance Strategy Development:

    • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure that machinery and equipment remain in optimal working condition.
    • Oversee the development of long-term maintenance strategies to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and extend the lifespan of critical equipment.
    • Prioritize maintenance requests, balancing emergency repairs with planned maintenance tasks to optimize production output.
  3. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:

    • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical issues that arise in production equipment, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime.
    • Work with senior engineers and technicians to assess mechanical failures, determine root causes, and develop long-term corrective actions.
    • Oversee the diagnosis of mechanical problems and ensure that the team follows standard procedures for repairs and equipment restoration.
  4. Budgeting and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the mechanical maintenance department’s budget, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and costs are controlled.
    • Oversee inventory management, ensuring that critical parts, tools, and equipment are available for maintenance activities without overstocking.
    • Coordinate the procurement of materials and components, ensuring that the necessary items are sourced at the right quality and price.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
    • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure that all team members are adhering to safety protocols while working with mechanical systems.
    • Manage and enforce safety training for maintenance personnel, ensuring that they are up-to-date with safety certifications and practices.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify areas for process improvements in machine performance, maintenance procedures, and team efficiency.
    • Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance maintenance practices, improve reliability, and reduce overall maintenance costs.
    • Lead initiatives aimed at improving machine uptime, equipment reliability, and reducing maintenance costs.
  7. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with other departments, including production, engineering, and quality control, to ensure that all maintenance activities support production goals.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management to report on maintenance performance, operational challenges, and key initiatives.
    • Provide leadership in cross-functional projects to enhance equipment performance and increase production efficiency.
  8. Performance Metrics and Reporting:

    • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance activities, including equipment uptime, downtime, repair costs, and maintenance efficiency.
    • Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, machine performance, safety compliance, and maintenance department progress.
    • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, potential problems, and areas for improvement.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Maintenance Strategy and Reliability:

    • Develop and manage the preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all mechanical systems to improve overall machine reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  2. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead the maintenance team by providing clear direction, setting performance expectations, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
    • Mentor and train maintenance personnel to improve technical skills and support their professional development.
  3. Cost Control and Resource Management:

    • Manage the maintenance department’s budget effectively, reducing unnecessary expenditures while ensuring that all required resources are available to support operations.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards to minimize accidents and operational disruptions.
  5. Continuous Improvement:

    • Implement process improvements to optimize machine performance, reduce repair time, and enhance operational efficiency through new tools, techniques, and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Extensive experience with mechanical systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production machinery, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
    • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices, as well as machine optimization techniques.
    • Familiarity with safety regulations, equipment standards, and environmental compliance.
  3. Leadership and Soft Skills:

    • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a team of technicians and engineers.
    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to manage complex maintenance challenges and ensure minimal disruption to production.
    • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members, other departments, and senior management.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities to meet production deadlines.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Lean Manufacturing certifications, or similar qualifications are preferred.
    • Certification in maintenance management or safety (e.g., OSHA) is an advantage.
