The Senior Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing all mechanical maintenance activities within a manufacturing facility. This includes overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, managing mechanical breakdown response, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role demands strong technical expertise, leadership, and coordination across departments.
Lead and optimize preventive, predictive, and corrective mechanical maintenance programs
Minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability and reliability
Drive long-term asset care planning and contribute to capital equipment strategy
Supervise and mentor a team of technicians, fitters, and junior supervisors
Ensure optimal resource allocation and shift planning
Develop and implement technical training programs for team upskilling
Lead complex troubleshooting of mechanical systems, including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, HVAC, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement sustainable corrective actions
Escalate critical issues to engineering or OEMs when needed
Ensure compliance with workplace safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements (ISO, OSHA, etc.)
Enforce LOTO, confined space, and hot work permit systems
Conduct regular audits, safety talks, and incident investigations
Manage maintenance records, logs, and historical equipment data via CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo)
Track KPIs like MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance cost per unit
Monitor spare parts usage, lead procurement planning, and reduce inventory waste
Coordinate with production, QA/QC, utilities, and project teams for effective maintenance execution
Support engineering modifications, retrofits, and process improvements
Lead shutdown and turnaround planning and execution
Manage all mechanical maintenance activities and supervise mid/junior staff
Review and approve maintenance schedules and work permits
Evaluate equipment performance trends and initiate improvements
Monitor contractor activities and ensure third-party compliance
Support implementation of TPM, RCM, or Lean Maintenance initiatives
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
8–12+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial plant environment
Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical utilities, and plant layout
Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair practices
Leadership and team management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Experience in using CMMS and maintenance data analysis
Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and lean methodologies
Certifications in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Management, or Industrial Safety
Exposure to ISO 9001/14001/45001 systems
Experience in sectors like automotive, food & beverage, cement, packaging, FMCG, or heavy industries
Site-based role involving shop-floor supervision and field inspections
May require extended hours during shutdowns, turnarounds, or emergencies
PPE usage and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory
