The Mid-Level Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising routine and emergency mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of manufacturing equipment and systems. This role requires technical expertise, team coordination, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Supervise inspection, servicing, repair, and overhauling of mechanical equipment (e.g., gearboxes, motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, valves, blowers)
Ensure adherence to preventive and predictive maintenance schedules
Monitor the condition of machinery and lead timely interventions
Lead troubleshooting of mechanical failures during production
Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Coordinate emergency repairs to reduce equipment downtime
Allocate daily work orders and supervise a team of mechanical technicians and fitters
Ensure work is completed safely and within deadlines
Mentor junior team members and conduct basic on-the-job training
Enforce safety protocols, including PPE use, LOTO, and hot work permits
Participate in audits, safety drills, and incident investigations
Ensure compliance with company and statutory maintenance and safety regulations
Maintain accurate records of daily work, maintenance logs, and equipment history
Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for scheduling and reporting
Monitor spare parts inventory and raise requisitions for critical spares
Plan and execute daily mechanical maintenance activities
Coordinate with production teams to align maintenance with operational schedules
Support minor mechanical modification and improvement projects
Assist in equipment overhauls during plant shutdowns
Ensure mechanical tools, lifting equipment, and safety devices are maintained
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance
4–7 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Proficiency in reading technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and P&IDs
Good mechanical fault diagnosis and hands-on repair skills
Understanding of bearings, alignment, couplings, seals, lubrication systems
Familiarity with utility systems like compressed air, cooling water, and HVAC
Experience using CMMS tools (e.g., SAP, Maximo, or Oracle)
Strong team coordination, communication, and shift-handling skills
Primarily shop-floor based; requires physical movement and site rounds
Exposure to noise, heat, and rotating machinery
May require shift duty, weekend support, or on-call availability
Mandatory use of PPE and compliance with plant safety norms
