The Mechanical Maintenance Manager – Valve Systems is responsible for leading and executing the maintenance strategy for all valve-related assets in industrial plants or production facilities. This role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs focused on ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of control valves, isolation valves, pressure relief devices, and associated mechanical systems. The manager leads a team of technicians and coordinates with operations, engineering, and safety teams to minimize downtime and ensure regulatory compliance.
Develop and implement maintenance plans for all mechanical valve systems, including inspection, calibration, servicing, and overhaul routines.
Ensure the integrity and performance of critical valve systems in high-pressure, high-temperature, or corrosive environments (e.g., oil & gas, power, chemical).
Establish KPIs for uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and maintenance effectiveness.
Lead and develop a team of maintenance technicians, planners, and specialists.
Schedule manpower and allocate resources effectively to support plant reliability goals.
Conduct training and competency development in valve maintenance, diagnostics, and safety procedures.
Supervise troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) of valve failures and equipment breakdowns.
Work with reliability and engineering teams to improve valve performance through material upgrades, actuation improvements, or design changes.
Optimize spare parts inventory, maintenance tools, and documentation systems (e.g., CMMS).
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, plant-specific policies).
Maintain documentation for regulatory audits, insurance inspections, and asset integrity programs.
Support compliance with pressure equipment directives and site mechanical integrity programs.
Implement predictive maintenance technologies such as ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis, or smart valve diagnostics.
Champion lean maintenance practices to reduce downtime and maintenance cost.
Drive continuous improvement in work order completion, backlog reduction, and response times.
Comprehensive valve maintenance management (control, isolation, relief valves)
Reliability and asset performance improvement
Maintenance planning, CMMS usage, and spare parts control
Compliance with mechanical integrity standards
Leadership of multi-skilled maintenance teams
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (required)
Maintenance-related certifications (e.g., CMRP, API 510/570/579, or PE license) preferred
8–12+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within process industries, with at least 4+ years in valve system maintenance
Prior supervisory or managerial experience in maintenance or reliability functions
Strong background in valve repair, inspection, and condition monitoring
Expertise in industrial valves (manual, automated, pressure-relief)
Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo, etc.)
Understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical drawings, and specs
Knowledge of industry codes: ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA
Strong leadership, planning, and communication abilities
Analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset
Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
