Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Manager to lead and manage all mechanical maintenance activities across our facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and reliability of mechanical systems and equipment through effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies. The ideal candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team and collaborate cross-functionally to minimize downtime, enhance asset integrity, and uphold safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans for mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, gearboxes, piping, conveyors, and HVAC systems.

  • Manage daily maintenance operations to ensure equipment availability and plant uptime targets are met.

  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to production.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical technicians, planners, and support staff.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, skill assessments, and training plans to enhance team competency.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and team accountability.

Asset Management & Reliability:

  • Apply root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode analysis to reduce recurrence of breakdowns.

  • Lead equipment reliability improvement initiatives through continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Work closely with engineering and reliability teams to support long-term asset health and lifecycle planning.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed in compliance with company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to procedures for work permits, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space entry.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, cost forecasts, and spare parts inventory.

  • Oversee procurement of mechanical services and materials, managing vendor performance and contracts.

  • Optimize maintenance spending while maintaining equipment reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Interface with operations, engineering, and project teams to support production needs, shutdowns, and capital projects.

  • Participate in planning and execution of major turnarounds and outages.

  • Communicate equipment status, priorities, and challenges to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Advanced degree or maintenance-specific certifications are an asset.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance roles in industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors.

  • Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership position managing teams and maintenance programs.

  • Demonstrated success with CMMS systems, reliability tools, and maintenance KPIs.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with maintenance planning software, spare parts management, and condition monitoring tools.

  • Knowledge of applicable safety and regulatory standards (OSHA, ISO, NFPA, etc.).

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM)

  • Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)

  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional)

  • OSHA or equivalent safety certification
