Job Title: Mechanical Integrity Engineer (API 579, 580, 581)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical Integrity Engineer to lead mechanical integrity programs with a focus on fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments, risk-based inspection (RBI) strategies, and asset integrity management in accordance with API 579, 580, and 581 standards. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee complex engineering evaluations, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of pressure equipment and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Mechanical Integrity Management

  • Lead and manage comprehensive fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations and RBI programs for pressure vessels, piping, valves, and other critical mechanical assets.

  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to integrity engineers and cross-functional teams.

  • Develop and implement mechanical integrity strategies aligned with industry standards and company policies.

Complex Assessments & Engineering Reviews

  • Perform advanced FFS assessments including Level 2 and Level 3 API 579 evaluations, damage mechanism analyses, and remaining life estimations.

  • Review and validate inspection data, engineering reports, and maintenance records to identify risks and ensure compliance.

  • Oversee failure investigations and root cause analyses related to mechanical integrity issues.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead mechanical integrity projects and coordinate with operations, maintenance, inspection, and asset management teams.

  • Serve as a key liaison between engineering, HSE, operations, and external contractors or consultants.

  • Present findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements including API, ASME, OSHA, and local regulations.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inspection programs, reliability, and asset performance.

  • Develop and update mechanical integrity procedures, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Advanced certifications in API 579, API 580, and API 581.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical integrity, fitness-for-service, and risk-based inspection engineering, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industry.

  • Demonstrated experience leading mechanical integrity teams and complex assessments.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in API 579 fitness-for-service standards, damage mechanism identification, and RBI methodologies.

  • Proficient in mechanical integrity software tools (AEA, Meridium, RBI Manager, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of pressure equipment design codes, inspection techniques, and failure analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Certifications:

  • API 579 Level 3 or equivalent advanced certification.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent accreditation.

  • Safety certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA.
