The Junior Mechanical Fabricator – Stainless Steel is responsible for assisting in the fabrication of stainless steel components and assemblies used in sanitary and industrial applications. This role focuses on supporting fit-up, cutting, grinding, and preparing stainless parts for welding and assembly, while adhering to quality, safety, and sanitary fabrication standards. The junior fabricator will work under the guidance of experienced team members and supervisors to build foundational skills in high-quality metal fabrication.

Assist in measuring, marking, and cutting stainless steel sheet, plate, and tubing according to fabrication drawings.
Deburr and clean materials using grinders, files, or chemical cleaning methods appropriate for sanitary applications.
Prepare components for welding including fit-up, clamping, and tack welding under supervision.
Support senior fabricators during assembly of tanks, skids, piping, and other stainless steel process equipment.
Learn and apply techniques for aligning and joining sanitary fittings, valves, and mechanical components.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively under direction.
Assist in polishing and maintaining required surface finishes (e.g., 32Ra or better) for hygienic environments.
Follow clean build practices to avoid contamination, scratches, or damage to material surfaces.
Support tagging, identification, and protection of clean components during fabrication.
Learn to read basic fabrication and assembly drawings.
Follow verbal instructions and visual cues from lead fabricators to complete tasks accurately.
Apply measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and levels with growing precision.
Comply with shop safety procedures including PPE use, machine safety, and hazard communication.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S principles.
Participate in toolbox talks and fabrication team meetings.
High school diploma, vocational training, or technical certification in metal fabrication or welding (preferred).
0–2 years of experience in a fabrication or metalworking environment.
Basic knowledge of hand tools, grinders, and material handling practices.
Willingness to learn sanitary fabrication standards and techniques.
Familiarity with stainless steel handling and clean fabrication concepts.
Exposure to TIG welding preparation and pipe fit-up.
Team-oriented with a proactive, detail-conscious attitude.
Ability to follow instructions accurately and safely.
