We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical design and engineering efforts for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality mechanical systems, supporting capital project execution, and guiding a team of mechanical engineers in the development of pump stations, piping networks, chemical dosing systems, HVAC, and other treatment-related infrastructure.
Mechanical Engineering Oversight
Lead the design, analysis, and review of mechanical systems for water/wastewater treatment plants, including pumps, valves, piping, HVAC, and process equipment.
Ensure designs meet regulatory codes (ASME, AWWA, NFPA), client requirements, and industry best practices.
Review technical drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals for accuracy and quality.
Project Management & Execution Support
Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and process engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
Provide technical input throughout project phases including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Manage timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies for mechanical engineering tasks.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, promoting technical excellence and accountability.
Conduct performance evaluations, assign project tasks, and support career development.
Ensure the team adheres to safety protocols and quality standards.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive innovation in system design, energy efficiency, and equipment selection.
Evaluate new technologies and materials for potential application in treatment processes.
Develop and maintain engineering standards and design guidelines.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and external consultants to ensure design alignment and issue resolution.
Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and value engineering sessions.
Provide clear communication and documentation of design intent and changes.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Master’s degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering is a plus
Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain
PMP or other project management certifications a plus
Experience:
8–12 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on water/wastewater infrastructure
Proven leadership in multidisciplinary project environments
Experience with municipal or industrial treatment plants preferred
Skills:
Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, and hydraulic modeling software
Strong understanding of pump and valve sizing, piping design, and mechanical codes
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and interface with diverse teams
