The manager provides technical direction, oversees engineering projects, and supports compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Leadership:

    • Lead the mechanical design, specification, and performance evaluation of boiler and steam systems.

    • Manage a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the lifecycle of boiler infrastructure.

  • System Design & Upgrades:

    • Plan and oversee upgrades to boilers, burners, economizers, and condensate systems.

    • Drive innovation in design for improved efficiency, emissions reduction, and system capacity.

  • Project Management:

    • Manage capital and retrofit projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.

    • Ensure projects meet quality, timeline, and cost targets with strong vendor and contractor coordination.

  • Reliability Engineering:

    • Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs for boilers and auxiliary systems.

    • Use root cause analysis (RCA) to solve chronic mechanical issues and improve uptime.

  • Energy Efficiency & Optimization:

    • Identify and implement boiler optimization opportunities such as fuel efficiency, heat recovery, and process integration.

    • Collaborate with energy managers to meet sustainability and energy reduction targets.

  • Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with codes and standards (e.g., ASME Boiler Code, API, NFPA, OSHA).

    • Maintain boiler inspection schedules and documentation for pressure vessels and safety devices.

  • Technical Documentation & Standards:

    • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including P&IDs, O&M manuals, SOPs, and technical reports.

    • Standardize practices across operations to ensure consistency and safety.

  • Team Development:

    • Mentor junior engineers and technicians; support professional development and training in boiler systems.

    • Promote a safety-first culture and engineering best practices.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Boiler System Design & Engineering Standards:
Develop and uphold technical standards for high-performance and code-compliant steam systems.

  2. System Reliability & Maintenance Strategy:
Enhance asset reliability through predictive maintenance and lifecycle management of boiler components.

  3. Performance Optimization:
Improve thermal efficiency, combustion quality, and steam utilization through continuous monitoring and improvement.

  4. Safety & Compliance Management:
Lead engineering compliance initiatives to meet boiler codes, pressure equipment regulations, and environmental standards.

  5. Capital Projects Execution:
Deliver cost-effective and technically sound boiler upgrade projects aligned with long-term plant goals.

  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with operations, maintenance, energy, and safety teams to support plant-wide utility integration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a strong focus on boiler and utility systems.

  • Proficient in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion, and heat transfer.

  • Experienced in ASME codes, API standards, and utility system compliance.
