Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Support

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a results-driven and technically competent Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Support to play a key role in supporting and improving manufacturing processes. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of fabrication, machining, and assembly operations by resolving production issues, optimizing processes, and maintaining documentation. The role involves cross-functional coordination with design, QA/QC, and maintenance teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to standards.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Process Support

  • Provide real-time technical support on the shop floor to resolve mechanical and process-related issues.

  • Monitor and support production operations for components and assemblies, including structural and fabricated parts.

  • Ensure compliance with standard manufacturing practices and production schedules.

2. Process Optimization

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to reduce cycle time, waste, and costs.

  • Participate in and lead small-scale process improvement projects (Lean, 5S, TPM).

  • Support implementation of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) suggestions.

3. Technical Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing process documents such as SOPs, PFMEA, work instructions, and control plans.

  • Update documentation for engineering changes and ensure proper version control.

  • Assist in training shop floor personnel on new or revised processes.

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Support quality assurance teams by investigating non-conformances and contributing to root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.

  • Ensure manufacturing operations adhere to safety, quality, and ISO/AS standards.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with design, production planning, tooling, QA, and maintenance teams to ensure production readiness.

  • Coordinate engineering change notices (ECNs) and manufacturing change management.


Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing support or production engineering roles.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: fabrication, assembly, CNC machining, and welding.

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, GD&T, and interpreting BOMs.

  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and MS Office.

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles is a plus.

  • Mix of office and hands-on shop floor engagement.

  • Exposure to fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly areas.

  • Requires adherence to safety practices and use of PPE.
