We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Systems to lead the design, coordination, and implementation of HVAC systems for complex and technically demanding projects across sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, industrial, data centers, and commercial facilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strong grasp of energy efficiency, building codes, and sustainability practices. You will serve as a technical mentor and project lead, driving excellence in HVAC system design and execution.
Lead HVAC design for large-scale or technically complex projects from concept through construction, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
Perform advanced load calculations, energy modeling, psychrometric analysis, and life-cycle cost analysis.
Develop and review detailed HVAC design drawings, specifications, and control schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, and design tools such as Trace 700 or HAP.
Select, size, and specify HVAC equipment such as AHUs, chillers, boilers, pumps, VRF/VRV systems, and terminal units, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
Manage multidisciplinary coordination, working with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and controls teams.
Provide technical leadership in system optimization, sustainability, and energy efficiency, ensuring adherence to LEED, ASHRAE, and local energy codes.
Oversee project documentation, QA/QC reviews, peer reviews, and risk assessments related to mechanical systems.
Lead or support HVAC commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification during construction and post-occupancy.
Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, contributing to staff development and technical training.
Participate in client meetings, value engineering discussions, and proposal development, serving as a subject matter expert (SME).

Complex Project Leadership
Lead high-stakes or regulated projects, such as hospitals, cleanrooms, labs, and mission-critical infrastructure.
Code Compliance & Standards Expertise
Ensure systems meet or exceed ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IECC, and applicable local/national codes.
Energy Optimization & Sustainability
Integrate energy-efficient strategies and support certification processes such as LEED, WELL, or Energy Star.
Team & Client Coordination
Serve as a key liaison between engineering, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
7+ years of experience in HVAC system design and project coordination.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC software (HAP, Trace 700, or similar).
In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, energy modeling, and building automation integration.
Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, and sustainable design practices.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Experience in mentoring, client management, and leading technical reviews.
Professional Engineer (PE) license (strongly preferred)
LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainability credentials
CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or CCP (Certified Commissioning Professional)
OSHA 30 or familiarity with safety protocols for construction projects
