We are seeking a technically strong and leadership-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of fabrication systems, including CNC machinery, robotic platforms, automated tooling, and custom assemblies. This role requires end-to-end ownership of mechanical architecture, integration with automation systems, and support for production execution. You will mentor junior engineers and work cross-functionally with controls, robotics, and manufacturing teams to drive innovation and ensure mechanical excellence in complex fabrication environments.
Lead the design of high-performance mechanical systems using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Inventor.
Architect assemblies optimized for dynamic loads, precision motion, and automated manufacturing workflows.
Apply deep knowledge of DFM/DFA, kinematics, structural design, and component selection for industrial-grade applications.
Ensure mechanical designs are fully aligned with CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and robotic fabrication capabilities.
Lead integration of mechanical systems with electrical, pneumatic, and automation components.
Oversee prototyping efforts, including hands-on assembly, mechanical testing, and field deployment support.
Use simulation tools (FEA, motion analysis) to validate design performance and drive iterative improvements.
Develop and review 2D drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and technical documentation in compliance with internal and industry standards.
Define and enforce mechanical design standards, quality checks, and version control workflows.
Work closely with controls, robotics, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless system delivery.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, peer reviews, and design critiques.
Lead technical discussions with external vendors, customers, or partners.
Own the mechanical engineering scope of fabrication system projects from concept to delivery.
Drive innovation in mechanical subsystems that improve machine performance, reliability, or cost efficiency.
Support integration of motion systems (e.g., linear actuators, gearboxes, ball screws, guide rails).
Lead root cause analysis and implement design changes based on testing and real-world feedback.
Develop project timelines, track deliverables, and ensure alignment with company goals.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in mechanical system design for fabrication, automation, or industrial machinery.
Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, mechanical drawing creation, and tolerance analysis.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, laser cutting, and additive manufacturing.
Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
Experience in robotic fabrication systems, automated tooling, or CNC machine design.
Familiarity with FEA software (e.g., Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation) and motion simulation tools.
Experience working in cross-functional teams delivering mechatronic or electromechanical systems.
Knowledge of industrial standards (ISO, ASME) and familiarity with quality assurance processes.
Prior leadership in mentoring, project management, or technical team coordination.
