Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, development, and innovation of valve products used in water and wastewater treatment systems. This role involves advanced engineering design, team leadership, cross-department collaboration, and technical oversight of valve performance, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.
Design Leadership & Product Development
Lead the mechanical design of complex valve assemblies including large-diameter and high-pressure valves (e.g., butterfly, gate, ball, check).
Own design initiatives from R&D through to full-scale production, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct and review stress analysis, fluid flow modeling (CFD), and material selection for harsh environments.
Technical Oversight & Standards Compliance
Serve as the technical authority on AWWA, ASME, and ISO-compliant valve design requirements.
Approve final designs, calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and test procedures.
Ensure alignment with customer specifications, industry codes, and internal QA/QC processes.
Mentorship & Team Development
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers and designers through technical reviews and design feedback.
Lead cross-functional design reviews with manufacturing, field operations, and supply chain teams.
Develop internal best practices, design standards, and process improvements.
Testing, Validation & Field Support
Oversee prototype testing including hydrostatic, fatigue, actuation, and environmental testing.
Analyze failure modes from lab or field results (FMEA/RCFA) and drive corrective design actions.
Support field engineering teams with troubleshooting valve performance issues or retrofits.
Innovation & Strategic Input
Contribute to product innovation strategies, including smart valve integration, advanced coatings, or modular designs.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, lifecycle improvements, or new product offerings.
Collaborate with R&D and project engineering to align design work with long-term business goals.
Advanced mechanical design and validation of valve systems
Leadership in design standards, compliance, and mentoring
Valve lifecycle performance and field reliability
Strategic design input and innovation in water treatment systems
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable
Experience:
7–10+ years in mechanical product design, with significant focus on valve systems for water/wastewater or industrial applications
Proven experience leading engineering design teams or cross-discipline projects
Skills:
Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools, and experience with FEA/CFD software
Deep understanding of valve mechanics, fluid dynamics, materials science, and sealing technologies
Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional communication skills
Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as casting, CNC machining, coating, and automated assembly
