Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead and manage the design of complex mechanical systems, components, and products. In this role, you will be responsible for taking ownership of high-level design projects from concept through production, working with cross-functional teams to ensure technical excellence, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. You will mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and a desire to take on leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Mechanical Design Projects: Take ownership of the design and development of complex mechanical systems, components, and products, ensuring that designs meet all technical, performance, and budget requirements.
- Advanced CAD Modeling & Design: Develop, review, and approve detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), ensuring manufacturability, assembly, and cost efficiency.
- Engineering Analysis & Optimization: Lead engineering analysis and simulations (e.g., FEA, thermal analysis, stress testing) to validate and optimize designs, ensuring that they meet functional requirements and industry standards.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving: Drive innovation in mechanical design by researching and applying emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods to improve product performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Design Reviews & Validation: Conduct design reviews, working with cross-functional teams to validate design solutions. Lead design verification and testing activities to ensure products meet performance criteria before production.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams to ensure designs can be efficiently produced, assembled, and tested, while meeting all specifications and standards.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers. Foster a culture of learning and development within the team, and actively support career growth.
- Process Improvement & Best Practices: Contribute to the development and implementation of design standards, best practices, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and innovation within the team.
- Customer & Stakeholder Interaction: Interact with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, present design concepts, and address any issues or concerns regarding the design and manufacturing processes.
- Project Management & Coordination: Lead design projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and project goals are met. Coordinate with other departments and external vendors to manage project milestones and deliverables.
Key Focus Areas:
- Leadership & Technical Excellence: Lead the design process for complex mechanical systems and components, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer needs.
- Innovation & Optimization: Continuously seek innovative solutions, materials, and manufacturing techniques to enhance product performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with multiple departments to ensure designs are aligned with production, quality, and customer requirements.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting professional development and knowledge-sharing across the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, including a proven track record of designing complex systems, managing design projects, and leading teams.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD). Strong understanding of mechanical principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Experience leading and mentoring teams of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong ability to solve complex engineering challenges, proposing innovative solutions that meet or exceed performance, cost, and manufacturability goals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present design ideas, technical reports, and project updates to stakeholders and customers.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience in leading projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, within budget and quality requirements.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in ensuring accuracy and precision in design, documentation, and technical specifications.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
