Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Supervisor – Valve Systems
Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Assembly Supervisor – Valve Systems leads the end-to-end execution of mechanical valve assembly operations in a high-precision, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supervising multiple teams across shifts, ensuring adherence to stringent quality, safety, and productivity standards. The senior supervisor plays a strategic role in process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and workforce development, while also supporting new product introduction (NPI), lean manufacturing initiatives, and operational excellence across the production floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Leadership & Execution

Direct daily assembly operations for a range of valve systems, ensuring on-time delivery and product conformance.

Manage labor allocation, production planning, and shift coordination for optimal resource utilization.

Ensure seamless handoff across shifts and communicate effectively with planning, quality, and logistics teams.
Quality Assurance & Compliance

Drive adherence to ASME, AWWA, and internal quality standards across all assembly processes.

Implement inspection protocols and lead root cause analysis of defects and failures.

Support regulatory and customer audits, maintaining robust documentation and traceability.
Team Management & Development

Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of assembly leads, technicians, and operators.

Foster a performance-driven culture emphasizing training, engagement, and accountability.

Identify skill gaps and facilitate technical upskilling programs to enhance team capabilities.
Process Optimization & Engineering Interface

Collaborate with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and design-for-assembly initiatives.

Champion lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, Kanban) to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Contribute to NPI efforts by validating prototype assembly methods and scaling up production.
Operational Excellence & Reporting

Track and analyze KPIs such as throughput, OEE, scrap rate, and first-pass yield.

Generate daily/weekly performance reports and lead production review meetings.

Enforce safety standards and lead investigations for any incidents or near-misses.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology preferred

Relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ASQ CQI) are a strong plus
Experience:

7–10+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, with 3–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role

Extensive experience in valve or mechanical systems manufacturing, including manual and semi-automated lines
Technical Skills:

Expertise in mechanical assembly methods, tooling, torqueing, and test procedures

Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerancing, and BOM structures

Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems and digital production reporting tools
