The Mid-Level Mechanical Assembly Supervisor – Valve Systems is responsible for overseeing daily production operations on the valve assembly floor, ensuring that quality, safety, and productivity targets are met. This role provides leadership to assembly teams, monitors work standards, and collaborates with engineering, quality, and maintenance to resolve issues and improve assembly processes. The supervisor plays a key role in coordinating resources, training team members, and driving continuous improvement in mechanical assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight & Task Supervision
Supervise day-to-day mechanical assembly of valves, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
Allocate labor resources and adjust workflows to meet delivery commitments.
Monitor assembly procedures to ensure compliance with work instructions and blueprints.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and support a team of assembly technicians and operators, including performance feedback and daily coaching.
Train team members on assembly techniques, quality checks, and safety practices.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Quality & Compliance Monitoring
Conduct in-process inspections and support first-article verification.
Enforce quality standards per ASME, AWWA, and internal specifications.
Coordinate with QA to address defects and implement corrective actions.
Process Optimization & Collaboration
Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements in tools, fixtures, and methods.
Support engineering in new product introduction (NPI) and design-for-assembly (DFA) initiatives.
Collaborate with maintenance for equipment readiness and calibration compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate shift reports, production logs, and defect tracking.
Monitor and report KPIs such as throughput, first-pass yield, and downtime.
Ensure timely completion of documentation related to traceability and compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
Vocational training or equivalent experience accepted with proven leadership record
Experience:
4–6 years in mechanical assembly of valves or related products
2+ years in a team lead or supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
Familiarity with torque tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic testing, and fixture setup
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and basic root cause analysis
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to solving production issues
Clear communication and documentation capabilities
Able to adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced environments
