Roles & Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing large-scale mechanical assembly operations, ensuring high productivity, consistent quality, and adherence to safety standards. This leadership role involves overseeing cross-functional teams, optimizing assembly processes, ensuring production targets are met, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex mechanical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple mechanical assembly lines or shifts to achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives.

  • Interpret complex mechanical drawings and oversee the assembly of intricate systems and components.

  • Supervise and mentor team leaders, technicians, and operators; build a high-performance assembly team.

  • Coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, logistics, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

  • Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements through lean manufacturing principles.

  • Lead daily production meetings, track KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime), and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and 5S practices.

  • Guide implementation of new products/processes into assembly, including trials and documentation.

  • Monitor tooling, equipment, and fixture usage and coordinate preventive maintenance as needed.

  • Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen), root cause analysis (RCA), and support FMEA reviews.

  • Production Leadership & Output Optimization
    (Manage complex assembly cells with high-mix, low-volume or high-volume production)

  • Mechanical Systems Expertise
    (Handle structural, sub-system, or full product assembly — from chassis to enclosure integration)

  • Team Development & Mentoring
    (Coach junior supervisors and team leads; develop operator skills and cross-training programs)

  • Quality Assurance & First-Time Right Assembly
    (Lead zero-defect initiatives, audit processes, and drive operator accountability)

  • Lean Manufacturing & Operational Excellence
    (Champion Kaizen, 5S, visual management, takt time adherence, and waste elimination)

  • Process Documentation & Standardization
    (Support creation and revision of work instructions, SOPs, and assembly documentation)

  • Change Management & New Program Introduction
    (Lead pilot builds and ramp-up phases of new models or product variants)


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical assembly supervision or manufacturing leadership.

  • Strong understanding of assembly tools, fixtures, torque settings, and mechanical systems integration.

  • Proven experience with cross-functional team coordination and project execution.

  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, process documentation, and ERP/MES systems.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, or capital equipment assembly.

  • Six Sigma certification or lean manufacturing training is a plus.

  • Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and time management skills.

  • Familiarity with ISO/TS16949 or other quality system standards.
