We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Junior Marine Valve Technician to support the installation, servicing, and overhaul of marine valve systems across various vessels and shipboard environments. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals starting their careers in marine mechanical systems and eager to gain hands-on experience with valve technologies, ship piping systems, and overhaul procedures under professional guidance.
Valve Installation: Assist in fitting and aligning valves during ship construction, retrofit, or maintenance projects, including securing flanges, gaskets, and fasteners.
Overhaul Support: Participate in the disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly of various marine valve types (e.g., gate, globe, butterfly, ball, check).
System Integration Assistance: Learn to identify valve locations and interfaces within piping systems using layout drawings and P&IDs.
Tool & Equipment Use: Operate basic hand tools and lifting devices under supervision to support safe and effective valve handling.
Safety & Compliance: Follow shipyard safety rules and marine regulatory guidelines during all tasks, including confined space and lockout/tagout procedures.
Technical Documentation: Accurately complete checklists, maintenance logs, and assist in reporting component conditions or abnormalities.
Assist with the mechanical installation of valves on piping systems during drydock, new build, or maintenance projects.
Participate in valve overhaul tasks including cleaning, lapping, seat replacement, and visual inspections under the direction of senior technicians.
Prepare tools, gaskets, hardware, and work areas prior to overhaul or installation activities.
Interpret basic engineering drawings and valve assembly diagrams.
Perform leak checks and functional testing support under supervision.
Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and returned to storage after use.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment on vessels or in workshops.
Report progress, issues, or unusual findings to senior team members promptly.
High school diploma, technical school training, or vocational certificate in Mechanical, Marine Technology, or related field.
0–2 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance or marine environments (internships or apprenticeships welcome).
Basic understanding of valve types, flanged connections, and pipe components.
Ability to read and interpret simple technical drawings or instructions.
Willingness to work in physically demanding, confined, and shipboard environments.
Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and desire to learn marine mechanical systems.
Team-oriented mindset with effective communication and a safety-first attitude.
Exposure to marine, shipyard, or industrial mechanical work.
Familiarity with tools such as torque wrenches, gasket cutters, and valve pullers.
