Job Title: Marine Surveyor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Marine Surveyor to join our team. As a Junior Marine Surveyor, you will support senior surveyors in the inspection, assessment, and documentation of marine structures and vessels. You will assist in conducting surveys, collecting data, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
Marine Surveying and Inspections:
- Assist in conducting marine surveys of vessels, marine structures (e.g., docks, piers, seawalls), and other maritime assets to assess their condition and compliance with safety standards.
- Collect and record survey data using various tools and technologies, including sonar, GPS, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Support senior surveyors in inspecting and measuring structural components, including hull integrity, load-bearing structures, and other essential systems.
- Ensure that all survey data is accurately documented, cataloged, and stored for future reference and reporting.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Gather and compile data related to the structural condition of marine infrastructure, focusing on key elements such as corrosion, wear, and potential risks.
- Assist in analyzing collected survey data to identify trends, potential maintenance needs, or areas of concern.
- Prepare basic reports based on survey findings and provide recommendations for further action based on collected data.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with senior marine surveyors and other professionals, including engineers and project managers, to ensure accurate and timely assessments of marine assets.
- Assist in preparing technical reports and presentation materials to communicate survey results to management and clients.
- Attend team meetings and provide updates on ongoing survey activities and findings.
Support in Survey Equipment Handling:
- Help maintain and operate survey equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
- Assist in setting up equipment for fieldwork and support in troubleshooting issues that may arise with the tools and instruments.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all surveying activities are carried out in compliance with industry safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in implementing safety protocols during fieldwork, especially in marine and offshore environments.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop your skills and knowledge through on-the-job training, mentorship from senior surveyors, and industry certifications.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, tools, and techniques in marine surveying and the maritime industry.
- Participate in internal training programs and attend industry conferences or workshops to further your expertise.

Marine Infrastructure Surveys:
- Support the inspection and assessment of coastal and marine structures, ensuring their structural integrity and identifying necessary maintenance or repair actions.
Survey Data Collection:
- Assist in the collection of detailed survey data, focusing on accurate measurements and documenting critical information for future analysis and reporting.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols during all survey activities and ensure that all survey operations comply with regulatory standards.
Surveying Technology Use:
- Learn to use various surveying tools and technologies, including GPS systems, sonar equipment, and other diagnostic tools, to conduct thorough and accurate assessments.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Relevant academic projects or internships in marine surveying, coastal engineering, or a related discipline are a plus.
Experience:
- Entry-level position, with 0 - 2 professional surveying experience required.
- Any prior experience or internships related to marine surveying, shipbuilding, or structural assessments will be an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of marine surveying methods and techniques.
- Familiarity with survey equipment and software tools (e.g., sonar systems, GPS, and data collection tools) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of marine engineering principles and structural integrity of vessels and marine infrastructure.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Good communication skills to effectively report survey findings and collaborate with the team.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
