The Manufacturing Manager – Marine Valve Production or Assembly is responsible for managing all aspects of valve manufacturing operations, including machining, assembly, quality assurance, scheduling, and compliance. The role oversees the production of manual, actuated, and safety valve systems used in marine and offshore applications, ensuring adherence to industry codes, performance specifications, and production deadlines. This position plays a key role in ensuring product quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance in the fabrication of shipboard valve components.
Lead day-to-day operations of marine valve production and assembly lines, including scheduling, workflow, and resource management.
Oversee valve manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, pressure testing, painting, cleaning, and final assembly.
Ensure products meet technical standards for marine classification societies (ABS, DNV, USCG) and regulatory bodies (IMO, ISO, ASME, API).
Implement and improve lean manufacturing practices, Six Sigma initiatives, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) efforts.
Supervise production technicians, machinists, assemblers, and QA/QC personnel, ensuring proper training and performance management.
Coordinate with design engineering, procurement, and quality departments to meet build specifications and resolve production issues.
Manage production KPIs (yield, throughput, downtime, defect rate), and take corrective actions to meet output and cost goals.
Enforce safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and environmental regulations across the manufacturing floor.
Support audits, inspections, and customer factory acceptance tests (FATs) for large or customized marine valve orders.
Develop SOPs and work instructions for assembly, testing, and packaging of marine valve products.
Marine Valve Manufacturing: Oversight of high-performance valve production, including pressure-rated and corrosion-resistant units.
Production Efficiency: Improve throughput, reduce waste, and ensure on-time delivery of valve components to marine customers.
Quality and Compliance: Maintain compliance with ABS, DNV, ASME, and ISO standards for marine valves and pressure components.
Team Leadership: Manage skilled labor and technician workforce in a safety- and quality-driven manufacturing environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
8–12 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly management, with at least 3 years specifically in valve, pump, or marine component production.
Working knowledge of marine valve types (e.g., gate, globe, check, butterfly, safety relief, control valves) and their applications.
Experience with marine regulatory standards: ABS, DNV, USCG, ASME B16.34, B31.1/B31.3, and ISO 9001.
Proficient in ERP and MRP systems, production planning tools, and quality tracking systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor).
