The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing the production operations of marine mechanical components such as propulsion systems, pumps, gearboxes, shaft lines, valves, and auxiliary equipment. This leadership role ensures that manufacturing processes are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The manager coordinates cross-functional teams in production, quality, maintenance, and engineering to meet output targets, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with marine industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations of mechanical components for marine applications
Develop and execute production plans that meet customer delivery schedules and quality requirements
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable marine standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, IMO)
Oversee machining, assembly, welding, fabrication, and testing operations for mechanical components
Drive productivity improvements through lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies
Monitor KPIs including output, yield, cycle time, downtime, and on-time delivery
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve technical and process-related issues
Optimize resource allocation including labor, equipment, and materials
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
Support audits, customer inspections, and classification society certifications as needed
Manage and mentor a team of supervisors, technicians, and shop-floor personnel

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field (required)
Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Experience:
8+ years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial or marine/mechanical component production
3–5 years in a leadership or plant management role within a marine or similar regulated industry
Experience with casting, machining, precision assembly, pressure testing, and quality assurance processes
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of marine mechanical systems, tolerances, and material specifications
Proficiency in manufacturing planning and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor)
Working knowledge of classification society standards and inspection protocols (ABS, DNV, BV, etc.)
Experience with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement tools
